GCB National T20 League
When action continued in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) National T20 League yesterday at the Lusignan Centre Ground East Coast Demerara, the Berbice Piranhas took a bite out of the Demerara Hawks, triumphing by three wickets in a relatively comfortable chase.
Batting first, the Hawks were skittled out for 138 in 19.1 overs after some disciplined bowling from the Piranhas. Only Shamar Yearwood (29) and skipper Junior Sinclair (46) made any scores of substance as Jonathan Rampersaud, Captain of the Piranhas Jonathan Rampersaud, took 4-20 (4 overs) to restrict the opposition. In chase of 139 for victory, the Piranhas took it down to the wire but eventually won with a ball and three wickets to spare. The run chase was powered by Seon Glasgow’s 34-ball 50, while Adrian Sukwa (28) and Narendra Persaud (22) made valuable contributions with the bat. Glasgow smashed six fours and a pair of sixes during his match-winning knock.
The event continues tomorrow at the same venue with the Essequibo Derby as the Jaguars battle the Anacondas at 1:00pm.
