Road conditions at two busy intersections: Lamaha and Middleton streets and Duncan Street and Bel Air Road have become a point of concern for drivers. These upgraded intersections show signs of erosion, structural damage, and inadequate barriers posing a serious threat to public safety.
At Lamaha and Middleton streets, the intersection is compromised by a narrow, worn-down road surface and an exposed canal on one side. A crumbling concrete barrier, meant to separate the road from the canal, now partially collapsed, offers little protection for vehicles and pedestrians alike, leaving drivers worried about potential accidents.
Meanwhile, just a few blocks down, at Duncan Street and Bela Ar Road, the situation is almost similar. Erosion has created a dangerous drop-off, further narrowing the already busy lane. Although a metal guardrail is in place, it has been damaged and displaced, leaving vehicles at risk of veering off into the eroded section. The compromised road layout forces vehicles into close quarters, creating traffic bottlenecks and increasing the likelihood of collisions.
Residents have voiced their frustration with the situation, calling for urgent action. “It’s beyond unsafe; this needs fixing now before someone ends up in the canal,” said one concerned resident. Meanwhile, others are urging the relevant authorities to prioritize repairs, citing the intersections’ high traffic volume and the daily risks posed to both drivers and pedestrians. There are nearby schools in the area and children use that road.
