Jessica Callender emerged victorious in the Queenside Women’s One-Day Rapid Chess Championship, which was staged at the David Rose Special School in Thomas Lands, Georgetown.
This was confirmed by a release from the Guyana Chess Federation. According to the correspondence, Callender captured the crown following an undefeated campaign in the nine-round event, which had a time control of 15 minutes per player with a five-second increment after each move.
Treskole Archibald secured second place with seven points, with her only defeats coming against Callender and Emma John. Rebha Lachman, 11, rounded out the top three with six points. Her losses came against Callender, Archibald, and Waveney Johnson.
Meanwhile, Kataleya Sam and Chelsea Harrison ended on six and 5.5 points apiece to finish in fourth and fifth, respectively, while Nellisha Johnson and Nayana Balram secured sixth and seventh place correspondingly with five points each.
“Other notable performances came from Mrs. Marcia Lee with five points, while Waveney Johnson, Tharisha Montes De Oca, Emma John, and Angelina Yhap ended with four and a half points. Lusianna Farlot, Saura Ruplall, Mrs. Amanda Alli, Sana Sreebalakumar, and Aldrianna DeJonge all gained four points”, the release stated.
