Uitvlugt squeaked past struggling outfit Uprising by a 1-0 score when the West Demerara Football Association Senior Men’s League continued at the Uitvlugt Community Centre ground.
Following a scoreless first half interval, Anson Sampson decided the outcome, as he etched his name on the score-sheet in the 86th minute to maintain the home side’s perfect record in the competition.
Due to the win, the Uitvlugt unit climbs onto 12 points and moves into second place. On the other side, Uprising remains in ninth position on a point.
Meanwhile, league leader Beavers was held to a 1-1 stalemate by fourth-place outfit Belle West. Kenroy Stephens recorded the only conversion of the first half for the Beavers side in the 26th minute. However, Belle West would earn a share of the spoils, as Shaun Williams found the back of the net in the 76th minute.
With the results, the Eagles soar into seventh place on four points while the loser remains pointless in the cellar.
