Forty-four fewer road deaths this year – police

The police yesterday said that there had been 44 fewer road deaths at the start of November this year compared to the same period last year.

This was disclosed  by  Traffic Chief, Senior Superintendent Mahendra Singh. He was speaking at the launch of Road Safety Month at the Police Officers’ Mess Annexe, Eve Leary.

He also disclosed that there had been 32 fewer accidents over the period under consideration.

While acknowledging the reduction, Singh noted that it shouldn’t be accepted in a positive light, as there is much more to be achieved in reducing fatalities on the roadways.
