The victorious Santa Rosa unit receives the championship trophy after defeating Marian Academy in the final of the Courts Pee Wee U-11 Football Championship.

History was created last evening as Santa Rosa became the first team from the hinterland community to win the Courts Pee Wee Boy’s U-11 Football Championship, defeating Marian Academy 1-0 in the final yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

The conversion that separated the two teams occurred in the extra time interval, following a scoreless regulation time interval. Michael Harris was the man of the hour, as he made his presence felt in the 62nd minute.

Latching onto a ball that bounced over the final defender, the diminutive Harris stabbed his effort past the goalkeeper into the lower left corner from inside the penalty area to spark wild celebrations on the field in the dying embers of the contest.

In the third-place playoff, St. Pius bested St. John the Baptist 3-2. Jovaine Wright bagged a brace in the 18th and 20th minutes, while Emmanuel Forte scored in the 16th minute. On the other side, Kriston Chandler and Kareem Welcome scored in the 26th and 32nd minutes, respectively.
