Police in Regional Division #2 have deployed a Joint Services patrol. It began patrolling on Friday, 1st November 2024.
This measure was adopted as part of the region’s effort to fight against crime, a release from the police said yesterday.
The patrol will focus its effort mainly on the Onderneeming Sand Pit Area and surrounding zones. There has been an upsurge of crime in the area recently.
Acting Commissioner of Police, Clifton Hicken on November 1st visited Onderneeming. According to a release from the police, the residents took advantage of the opportunity to highlight some of the issues plaguing their community, most of which were addressed on the spot.
The residents were told that Joint Services anti-crime patrols would commence that very evening.
The Commissioner assured the gathering that the Force is actively working on initiatives to increase patrols and enhance visibility in the area. Plans were also shared about community policing programmes that aim to involve residents in crime prevention efforts.
