The Stanleytown Bridge, a vital connector between Canals No. 2 Polder and the Wales/Patentia area, was set to reopen during the course of last night following emergency repairs aimed at restoring its structural integrity.

Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, confirmed to Stabroek News last evening, “The bridge will be opened tonight (last night)”.

According to a press release from the Ministry last evening, a temporary closure was to occur from 11 pm to 2 am to facilitate the installation of a new steel structure. This three-hour shutdown was described as crucial for the precise installation of structural components that have been prepared offsite. Travellers, particularly those heading to the airport, were urged to plan accordingly to cross the bridge before the closure begins.
