GCB/BetCage National T20 League

Action in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) BetCage sponsored National T20 League continued yesterday with a double-header at Pomona in Essequibo with home franchise Essequibo Jaguars along with Demerara Pitbulls mauling the Berbice Piranhas and Demerara Hawks, respectively.

In the early game, the Pitbulls faced their fellow county franchise, the Demerara Hawks, and proceeded to inflict a six-wicket thrashing on them.

The Hawks batted first and were restricted to 93/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Dwain Dick (3-28) and Golcharran Chulai (2-8) were the architects of the Hawks demise.

In response, Jonathan Van Lange (37 not out) and Joshua Persaud (24 from 14 balls) powered the Pitbulls to a six wicket win, chasing down the total with 7.4 overs remaining.

Meanwhile, in game two on the day, the Essequibo Jaguars, batting first, made 146/8 from their 20 overs before returning to skittle the Piranhas for 103 in 17.3 overs to register a 43-run win.

Zeynul Ramsammy (34), Rajiv Ivan (28), and Kevon Jawahir (25 not out) provided the momentum for their team.

In response, the Piranhas batting was wrecked by Ricardo Adams (3-19) and Joemal La Fleur (3-13). Only Romeo Deonarine (21), Nigel Deodat (24) and Seon Glasgow (20) mustered any knocks of resistance as the other Piranhas batsmen folded meekly.

The competition continues today at the La Bonne Intention Ground, East Coast Demerara, with the Berbice Caimans taking on the Demerara Hawks from 1:00pm.
