Bartica miner, wife held over drugs

The drugs that were found

Following an operation conducted by the Guyana Police Force yesterday, a Bartica businessman and his wife are now in custody after a  quantity of drugs was found at their residence.

According to a police release, around 2:30 pm, ranks, under the guidance of an Assistant Superintendent, arrived at the residence of 44-year-old Collin Obermuller, a well-known miner and businessman, at Lot 53 Third Avenue, Bartica, Region 7. Acting on intelligence, the ranks conducted a search of the premises for drugs, arms, and ammunition. Although no illegal item was initially found within the home, officers extended their search to the backyard, a secured area bordered by zinc and concrete.
