Linden food stall owner shot dead

A 56-year-old food stall owner from Linden, identified as Nigel Somersall, was fatally shot early yesterday morning. Detectives from Regional Division 10 are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

Somersall was discovered by a cousin lying motionless beside his motorcycle around 5:00 am. Preliminary reports indicate that at approximately 3:54 am, a motorcycle was heard approaching Somersall’s residence at West Watooka Hill Top, followed by several gunshots and what sounded like the motorcycle falling to the ground.

Police were notified of the incident around 5:30 am. Detectives are processing the scene.

In 2022 Calwyn Croal of Lot 178 Blueberry Hill, Wismar Linden was accused of shooting Somersall after a misunderstanding between the two, and was charged with attempted murder.

According to the Guyana Police Force, it was alleged that Croal attempted to murder Somersall of Blueberry Hill, Wismar, Linden on Friday, September 23, 2022. The man was shot once in the abdomen and three times on his right hand.
