-players’ concerns still not addressed
According to a well-placed source within the Guyana National Men’s football team, the management of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has agreed to meet with the players a day after the first ‘Play-in’ match against Barbados which is slated for November 15.
The meeting, which is being held to address a slew of concerns raised by the players and a couple of staff of the national side, comes almost three weeks after a letter signed by the majority of the Golden Jaguars.
In the letter, the players addressed issues such as inadequate travel arrangements, late and inconsistent payment among others.
The Jaguars are scheduled to face Barbados in return fixtures for a spot in the 2025 Gold Cup Qualifications after being relegated from League ‘A’ during a torrid campaign.
The ‘Play-in’ games are contested between the two bottom teams from each group of League A (teams ranked fifth and sixth) and the top four teams from League C (three group winners and the best team among the group runners-up).
The Golden Jaguars will travel to Barbados for the first leg on November 15, with the game to be played at the Barbados Football Association (BFA) Technical Centre, Wildey Park at 7 pm on the day.
The complaints by the players are a major embarrassment to the GFF and underline concerns about management of the team.
