Last evening, Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal and Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Charles Ramson, sat down with a team from SBM Offshore-Guyana, including Country Manager, Martin Cheong and Executive Director of NGO National Coordinating Coalition (NCC), Simone Sills to discuss partnership for the upgrade of the Cummings Park (Sophia) Multipurpose Facility.
A release from the Ministry of Housing said that Croal emphasized that the primary goal of the project is to transform the facility into a space that significantly benefits the community, especially youths.
Ramson highlighted the upgrade as a critical investment for development. Currently, the building is occupied by the NCC under an MOU with the former Community Development Council (CDC), which granted them a five-year occupancy agreement, the release said.
The planned upgrades will provide the community with an improved facility, offering better services and opportunities for youth engagement, recreational activities, and social development. The release said that the parties are expected to solidify the collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at a later date.
Also in attendance at the meeting were Deputy Director of Community Development at the Cen-tral Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA), Donell Bess-Bascom and Head of the Corporate Legal Secretariat, Hanni-fah Jordan and other officials.
