Guyana retained the West Indies Short Range Shooting crown when the West Indies Fullbore Shooting Championship concluded at the Timehri Rifle Ranges in Yarrowkabra, Linden Soesdyke Highway.

This was confirmed by a press release from the Guyana National Rifle Shooting Association.

While the English and Scottish participants will be absent, the other participating nations are: Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Canada, Grenada, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and the USA. Guyana previously hosted the event in 2017.

Team USA won the International Short Range Team Match

At the conclusion of the 300-yard section, the Guyanese, who won the title last year in Antigua and Barbuda, sat in third place on 350.16 points, trailing Jamaica (357) and Antigua and Barbuda (351.13), who occupied first and second positions, respectively. Barbados trailed in fourth place with a score of 337.18.

However, Guyana responded in the 500-yard segment to seize control, as they recorded a score of 370.16 to end on 720.32. Antigua and Barbuda recorded 364.24 to remain in second place on 715.37, while Jamaica dropped to the third position at 689.29 after scoring 332.12. Barbados remained in fourth place with a tally of 670.98 after scoring 333.8.

Guyana then secured the title in the 600-yard section, amassing their best scorer of the contest with 371.14 to finish on 1091.46. Antigua and Barbuda once again illustrated with their consistency as they tallied 369.15 points to end on 1084.52. Jamaica rounded out the top three with 1053.39, following a score of 364.10. Barbados ended in fourth place on 1017.40 after scoring 347.14.

Noah St. Clair of Antigua and Barbuda won the Wogart Trophy, which is awarded to the best individual in the team segment, with a score of 147.16.

Meanwhile, Guyana finished second in the International Short Range Team Match, which featured the USA Rifle Team and Canada. 

Guyana ended on 831.35, trailing the Americans, who ended on 863.60. Antigua and Barbuda rounded out the top three on 823.47. Jamaica, Canada, and Barbados finished in that order with scores of 812.34, 794.39, and 763.35, respectively. Dwaine Forde of Jamaica was awarded the Bermuda Shield for finishing with the highest combined aggregate score of 566.86 in the individual and team segments.

Meanwhile, Joshua Trotman of Barbados won the West Indies Individual title following a score of 428.22 points.

Also, Team USA swept the Individual Shoot division in the form of Lucas Tervin, Yvonne Roberts, and Nathaniel Guernsey, who finished in that order.
