Vengy and Order & Discipline recorded contrasting wins when the Georgetown Football Association Senior Men’s League continued at the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) National Training Centre (NTC) in Providence.
Vengy downed the Beacons unit 2-1. A Johenny Mendonza double in the first half proved to be the difference on the night. Mendonza opened his account with a fourth-minute conversion. He would then seal his double as he found the back of the net in the 27th minute. The score remained unchanged heading into the halftime interval.
Beacons would eventually get on the score-sheet in the form of Darien Dickson, who netted in the 62nd minute. However, any hopes of a comeback were extinguished as the Vengy rearguard thwarted the attacking forays of their opponent to secure the vital win.
With the result, Vengy climbs onto 17 points and moves into second place, while Beacons drops to sixth place and remains on 11 points.
In a similar manner, Riddim Squad bested the Northern Rangers 2-0. Two goals in the space of as many minutes secured the win. Dorville Stewart opened the scoring as he found the back of the net in the 21st minute.
The result was then sealed in the form of Adrian Kennedy, who etched his name on the score-sheet in the 23rd minute.
Order & Discipline dismantled Camptown 8-2. Shamar Thomas commenced the rout with a third-minute strike. Jeremiah Lewis then doubled their lead as he scored in the seventh minute. Ozeal Small reduced the deficit for Camptown as he found the back of the net one minute later.
However, Andre Marshall restored his team’s two-goal advantage as he netted in the 13th minute. Lewis then completed his brace as he etched his name on the score-sheet in the 30th minute. Lewis would make his presence felt once more, sealing his hat-trick nine minutes later.
Camptown would record a conversion via a Richie Richardson strike in the 41st minute to reduce the deficit to 2-5. Orin Singh would then take over the scoring burden for Order & Discipline as he opened his account in the 42nd minute.
Joshua Williams then made it 7-2 following a 44th-minute effort. The score was then completed in the 47th minute as Singh completed his brace.
Due to the outcome, Order & Discipline move onto four points and remain in ninth place, while the loser remains in the eighth position on seven points.
