The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda has decided to seek expert assistance from Scotland Yard to thoroughly investigate the deaths of Member of Parliament Asot Michael and two young women.
The Cabinet said that it held a lengthy discussion on the murder of MP Asot Michael, an independent lawmaker who was found lying in a pool of blood inside his residence on Monday.
During the meeting, Attorney General Steadroy Benjamin reached out to the Commissioner of Police to inquire about any new developments in the ongoing criminal investigation.
The police told the media that they questioned multiple individuals.
In addition to MP Michael’s murder, the Cabinet also addressed two other suspicious deaths that have alarmed the nation.
One case involves 16-year-old Yenifer Bridge, whose body was discovered on June 28 in a wooded area along Fig Tree Drive. Her two-year-old son had been found alone hours earlier, raising concerns about the circumstances surrounding Yenifer’s death.
The other case is that of 15-year-old Achazia James, whose body was found on a beach with her hand apparently severed in August.
The government has enlisted Scotland Yard’s expertise to get to the bottom of these disturbing cases and bringing any perpetrators to justice.
