Minister in the Ministry of Housing, Susan Rodrigues and CH&PA Chief Exe-cutive Officer, Sherwyn Greaves, recently visited Silica City on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway, where work on the first 110 Young Professional Homes is 50% complete.
A release yesterday from the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) said that the flat units cost approximately $25.2 million, while the elevated units range from $33.9 million to $34.4 million.
This phase includes 75 flat units with two different design options and 35 elevated units, also available in two designs. The release said that the houses showcase modern aesthetics with expanded living room and bedroom spaces compared to previous young professional models.
Rodrigues expressed her satisfaction with the project’s momentum, noting that contractors are actively working on all 110 units simultaneously. She said that the critical infrastructure for the development is complete, including road networks, utility poles, and pipe systems. With these elements in place, the next priority is ensuring the provision of potable water to facilitate immediate occupancy once construction concludes.
The Minister described the smart city as one of Guyana’s fastest-growing communities. She noted that this housing project is a crucial initiative for both the Ministry of Housing and President Irfaan Ali. With approximately 50% of the units already completed, the project is on track for final completion in the coming months.
