GH Renovations T20 Cricket
Cornelia Ida will oppose Canal #2, while McGill Superstars will battle Windsor Forest Centre Team in the semifinal round on Sunday at West Meten-Meer-Zorg Community Centre Ground, following quarterfinal wins in the GH Renovations T20 Cricket Championship.
Canal #2 defeated Sawpit by 39 runs. Batting first, Canal #2 was dismissed for 156. Navindra Ramnauth and Ubai Hussain led the batting effort with 46 and 45 runs, respectively. Satnarine Jodha was the pick of the bowlers with 2-19, while Shivram Mahase supported with 2-31 and Mahendra Jailall snared 2-36.
In response, Sawpit was bundled out for 117 in 16.5 overs. Jodha top scored with 41 runs, while Jailall was the next best batsman with 22. Hussain was the primary threat with the ball, as he recorded 4-10 while Vishwanauth Jadunauth registered 3-20.
Their opponent, Cornelia Ida (CI), downed Meten-Meer-Zorg by 42 runs. CI posted 158/8 after batting first, with Ushadavera Balgobin top scoring with 50 (7x4s), while Ajita Persaud and Richie Looknauth added 40 and 19 runs, respectively. Navindra Sankar amassed 3-11 with the ball, while Sheldon Alexander tallied 2-23 and Jermaine Maxwell recorded 2-29.
In response, Meten-Meer-Zorg was skittled for 116. Maxwell and Pameshwar Ram registered 22 and 20 runs, respectively, as Akib Mullin recorded figures of 4-35. Balgobin, Looknauth, and Safeek Deonarine supported with 2-9, 2-13, and 2-13, respectively.
Meanwhile, the McGill Superstars dismantled VNS by 108 runs. Taking first strike, McGill Superstars recorded an imposing 223/4 in their allotted 20 overs. Ronaldo Renee smashed his way to 90 (3x6s, 6x4s), while Kevon Boodie and Travis Persaud provided support with 42 runs, respectively. Adding 19 runs was Judell McAllister.
Bernard Lewis and Leoryan Ramlakhan recorded 2-24 and 2-60 with the ball. In response, VNS laboured to 116/7 at the conclusion of their innings. Ramlakhan scored 32 runs (2x6s, 3x4s), while Aditya Kadarnauth tallied 26 (2x4s).
Trevor Laurie was the pick of the bowlers with 4-26.
They will now oppose Windsor Forest Centre, who thrashed Leonora by 154 runs. Batting first, Windsor Forest scored an imposing 225/4 led by Killon Tracy’s 74 (5x6s, 5x4s). The next best batsman was Sachin Balgobin with 70 (1×6, 11x4s), while Kenzo Baksh added 31 runs (1×6, 4x4s).
Nicholas Gandalall snared 2-37. In response, Windsor Forest Centre crumbled to 73 all out in 17 overs, as Nicholas Shivkumar and Gandalall were the only batsmen to make double figures with 13 runs apiece.
Lalta Suknanan led the bowling effort with 3-8, while Kishaun Tracy and Monesh Gopie contributed 2-12, respectively.
