Rain washes out Harpy Eagles, Jamaica Scorpions encounter

CWI Super50 Championship

The Guyana Harpy Eagles suffered a further setback in the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Super50 Championship, as rain had the final say in their encounter with the Jamaica Scorpions, relegating the encounter to a no-contest yesterday at the Queen’s Park Over in Trinidad and Tobago.

The rain made its presence felt during the Jamaican innings as it inundated the playing area, forcing the officials to abandon the encounter. At the time of the stoppage, the Scorpions were 162/6 in 41.3 overs.

Jermaine Blackwood was unbeaten on 63 from 91 deliveries before being forced to exit the playing area. He was accompanied by Odean Smith, who was undefeated on eight. John Campbell also contributed 53 at the top of the order.

Ashmead Nedd snared 2-23 in his 10 overs, while the quartet of Veerasammy Permaul, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Keemo Paul, and Kevlon Anderson each snared one wicket. It was the second encounter for the Guyanese unit that ended in a no-result.
