Saints and Paiwomak Warriors captured the men’s and women’s titles, respectively, when the RDC Football Cup concluded at the St. Ignatius ground, Lethem.
In the men’s divisional final, Saints downed 7K United to walk away with the first prize of $1,000,000 and the championship trophy. In the women’s divisional decider, Paiwomak Warriors bested Potarinau Sky Kings 4-3 on penalty kicks after regulation time ended 1-1.
The Potarinau outfit also walked away with $1,000,000 and the corresponding award. Meanwhile, the losing divisional finalists each received $800,000 and the corresponding accolade.
In the women’s third-place playoff, the Jaguars pounced on Snipers 2-0 to pocket $500,000 and a trophy. On the other hand, the Paiwomak Warriors were awarded third place in the men’s division following a walkover win resulting from an earlier disqualification. They also pocketed $500,000 and the respective accolade.
