Unbeaten Uitvlugt climbed atop the standings while Pouderoyen maintained their perfect record when the West Demerara Football Association Senior Men’s League continued on Sunday.
Staged at the Uitvlugt Community Centre ground, the home side opened the scoring after their opponent conceded an own goal in the fifth minute. The lead was then doubled in the 19th minute as Kevis Fraser scored. The score remained unchanged heading into the halftime interval.
Following the resumption, Clem Brotherson made his presence felt with a 51st-minute strike. The win was then sealed in the form of Fraser, who completed his brace three minutes later.
Due to the win, the Uitvlugt unit climbs onto 15 points, leapfrogging Beavers FC to claim the top spot. On the other side, Crane remains in sixth position on five points.
Similarly, Pouderoyen downed No. #1 All-Stars 2-0. Kevin Duke made his presence felt in the 20th minute to break the deadlock. Stephon Jupiter then etched his name on the score-sheet in the 33rd minute to secure the win.
Due to the outcome, Pouderoyen climbs onto 12 points and remains in third place, while the losers remain on seventh points in the fifth position.
Meanwhile, on Saturday at the same venue, Belle West and Uprising tallied contrasting wins. Belle West grounded the Eagles 3-2. Daniel Gibson opened the scoring in the 17th minute for Belle West.
Navin Durga then doubled their advantage in the 22nd minute. The lead ballooned once more in the 25th minute via a Shaw Williams strike. Eagles eventually reduced the deficit in the form of Stephon Coleman in the 29th minute.
