A couple appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday, facing charges of discharging a loaded firearm.
Travis Farley, 26, and Erica Motielall, 23, were accused of firing a loaded gun at Zaheer Hussein on November 3, 2024, at Ruimveldt, George-town, causing Hussein bodily harm. Both pleaded not guilty.
Farley’s attorney said that his client was attempting to protect his business and that Farley did not possess a firearm. Hussein’s mother, present in court, stated that her son was bedridden and unable to walk due to two gunshot wounds to his leg. The prosecution confirmed his injuries and reported that eyewitnesses saw Farley discharge the firearm, allegedly handed to him by Motielall.
Magistrate McGusty questioned the circumstances of the shooting and Hussein’s presence at Riverview but found the situation unclear. Both defendants were granted bail at $200,000 each. The case has been adjourned until December 13, 2024, for further proceedings.
