The Essequibo Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ECCI) has partnered with the Guyana Police Force in an initiative to address rising crime and improve security in Regional Division #2 by donating two new motorcycles.

The donation was made yesterday at the Suddie Police Station, according to a release from the police.

The motorcycles were received by the Commissioner of Police,  Clifton Hicken, on behalf of the Guyana Police Force. He officially handed the motorcycles over to Superintendent Ravindra Stanley, Commander of the Regional Division #2.

Hicken emphasized the vital role of community policing and how the addition of motorcycles can enhance patrol efforts. He highlighted the importance of available resources and the need for partnerships, particularly with the private sector, to maximize the police force’s effectiveness, the release said.

“We are committed to maintaining an open relationship with the public and stakeholders, ensuring accountability and addressing any misconduct,” stated Hicken.

The Vice President of the ECCI, Dhanraj Singh emphasized the chamber’s readiness to support the police force and urged other businesses to also support security efforts in Region #2 and throughout Guyana.
