Defending champion Chase Academy, as well as Dolphin Secondary and Waramuri, continued their undefeated streaks following contrasting wins when the Republic Bank U-18 Schools Football continued yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Chase Academy squeaked past West Ruimveldt 1-0. Isaiah Ifill recorded the only conversion in the 47th minute.
On the other hand, Waramuri thrashed East Ruimveldt 8-0. Orwin Abrams recorded a hat-trick in the 21st, 24th, and 60th minutes, respectively. He was supported by Denzell Abrams, who tallied a brace in the 15th and 20th minutes, and Rondel Peters, the scorer of a double in the 41st and 44th minutes. Adding to the score in the 51st minute was Ricardo Lewis.
Similarly, Dolphin blanked President’s College 3-0. Collin David amassed a brace in the third and 16th minutes, while Kawson Chance found the back of the net in the 12th minute.
Meanwhile, South Ruimveldt and Bartica played to a 2-2 stalemate.
The winners of the league will bag $300,000 towards a school project along with a trophy and medals, while the runners-up will receive $200,000, a trophy, and medals as well. Third-place finishers will be compensated for their effort with $150,000 along with a trophy and medals.
Additionally, there will be individual incentives with accolades for the highest goal scorer and best goalkeeper, while the most disciplined team will also be rewarded for their behaviour. The tournament continues today at the same venue with another round of matches.
