Marian Academy girls to defend title against 15 other teams

MVP Sports Girls Pee Wee….

The MVP Sports Girl’s Pee Wee U-11 Football Championship was officially launched yesterday at the entity’s Giftland Mall location in Turkeyen.

This year’s edition will see the champions Marian Academy defending their title against 15 other schools from across the country.

 The event, which commences on Saturday at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue, will utilise an initial group stage format.

 Ian Ramdeo, proprietor of MVP Sports, stated that the company continues to be in collaboration with the Petra Organisation due to the development undertaken by the team in the area of youth football, which is pivotal to the advancement and future of the sport in Guyana.

 Ramdeo further stated that he is excited about the move to focus on the female segment, which has always had its challenges in the acquisition of sponsorship but is an area that requires more development.

 He added that the entity is pleased to support these efforts and will continue to be a part of this developing process.

 Meanwhile, Troy Mendonca, Co-Director of the Petra Organisation, said that the company has always shown the enthusiasm to support sports, adding that they are happy that the confidence exists in continuing this partnership to produce what has developed into a vital tournament.

 He further stated that female football is on an upward trajectory globally and that the Petra Organisation is proud to play its part in the local development of this component.

 The winner of the event will receive $100,000 towards a project, trophies and medals. The second, third, and fourth place finishers will receive $75,000, $50,000, and $25,000 towards an initiative and the corresponding accolade.

 Individual prizes such as the most valuable player, highest goal scorer, and best goalkeeper will also be awarded. 

 The event is also supported and endorsed by the Ministries of Education and  Culture, Youth and Sport.
