GH Renovations T20 Cricket
In what will be a rematch of the 2023 final, Cornelia Ida (CI) and McGill Superstars will contest the final of the West Demerara Cricket Association sanctioned GH Renovations T20 Championship following respective semifinal wins.
CI brushed aside Canal #2 by eight wickets at the West Meten-Meer-Zorg Community Centre ground. Batting first, Canal #2 posted 166 after being dismissed in 19.3 overs. Shazam Ragnauth top scored with 35 [3x6s, 2x4s], while Nityanand Mathura [26, 1×6, 2x4s], and Duane Graham [26, 2x6s, 1×4] made valuable contributions.
Thaddeus Lovell was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-31 in four overs, while Safeek Deonarine snared 2-25 and Mahendra Dhanpaul tallied 2-31. In response, CI, led by a 138-run partnership between Shaaid Vieira and Ushadavera Balgobin, stormed to 167/2 in 18.4 overs.
Vieira top scored with 75 [5x7s, 4x4s], while Balgobin amassed 64 [2x6s, 8x4s]. Contributing an unbeaten 19 was Lovell.
Meanwhile, McGill Superstars crushed Windsor Forest by 43 runs in the second semifinal match at the same venue. Batting first, the McGill Superstars, who are known for their explosive batting lineup, were dismissed for 132 in 19.1 overs. Kevon Boodie held together the innings for the Superstars with 62 [4x6s, 5x4s].
Kishaun Tracy was the primary threat with the ball with figures of 3-25, while the experienced Lalta Suknanan recorded 2-15. Deoram Chanderbir chipped in with 2-21.
In response, Windsor Forest was skittled for 89 in 17.3 overs. Ricardo Adams and Daniel Basdeo engineered the batting collapse as they combined for seven wickets for a mere 21 runs. Adams registered impressive figures of 4-11, while Basdeo supported with 3-10.
Teddy Wong top scored with 20 runs, while Abdullah Wazidali and Chaitram Nauth were the next best batsmen with 19 runs apiece. The final is pencilled for Sunday.
