Guyanese contingent heads into action today at Suriname Badminton Championship

The Guyanese badminton players who are currently in Suriname will compete at the host country’s international badminton tournament

The Guyana Badminton Association (GBA) team, featuring Akili Haynes, Priyanna Ramdhani, Nkosi Beaton, Frank Waddell, and Jonathan Debidin, is set to represent Guyana at the Suriname International 2024, which will commence today in Paramaribo.

The competition, which concludes on Sunday, includes events for singles, doubles, and mixed doubles.

Today, in the preliminary round, Nkosi Beaton, Frank Waddell, and Jonathan Debidin will compete to secure spots in the main draw. Meanwhile, Priyanna Ramdhani and Akili Haynes have direct entries into the main draw, which starts tomorrow, positioning them as strong contenders in their respective events.

Ahead of today’s competition, the GBA extended its best wishes to the team and expressed appreciation to the Guyana Olympic Association, along with supporters Chet Bowling, Andrew Browne, Gavin Caio, and Jason Stephney, for their contributions in making Guyana’s participation possible.
