Caribbean Clash of Champions
Vishok Persaud won the 2024 Group Four (2WD) crown, while new records were set by the trio of Kristian Jeffrey, Dan Linfoot, and Adrian Fernandes when the ENet Caribbean Clash of Champions concluded at the South Dakota Circuit on Sunday.
Persaud ended the title after winning two of the three races, inclusive of the best lap time of 1:17.848s.
Meanwhile, the weekend began with a new overall track record, with Dan Linfoot on a Yamaha R6 setting a new fastest lap of 1:15.534, surpassing the previous record of 1:16.271 set by Mark Vieira’s Radical SR3 two years ago. This improved Linfoot’s own 2023 record of 1:17.014, making it the new Superstock A-Class benchmark.
Caribbean champion Kristian Jeffrey dominated the 4WD category, achieving the fastest time of the day in that class with a 1:16.648, while records for the 2WD category remained intact.
In the Superstock B-Class, Alain Hopkinson took the record with a 1:19.530, breaking four laps on Sunday and surpassing Heeranand Boodram’s previous time of 1:21.553.
On the Street Bikes side, Adrian Mohar set a new record of 1:21.179, overtaking Hopkinson’s 2022 time of 1:21.592.
In Group Three, Stefan Jeffrey and his Honda Civic set a new record of 1:20.476, half a second faster than Mark Vieira’s 1:21.033 from earlier this year.
Other class records remained unchanged, except in the Sports Tuner category, where endurance racing champion Adrian Fernandes reclaimed the record with a 1:27.737 in his Toyota Levin, edging out Azad Hassan’s earlier time of 1:27.850.
Additionally, the newly introduced female class saw its first record set by Sharima Khan in her Honda Del Sol, posting a time of 1:39.893.
The event was a milestone day for the GMR&SC and racing fans alike, showcasing remarkable performances across multiple classes.
