Pele was crowned the Georgetown Football Association Senior Men’s League champion with a game to spare after Riddim Squad and Black Pearl played to a 3-3 draw at the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) National Training Centre (NTC) in Providence.

Needing a win to keep their hopes alive, Riddim Squad, who is based in the community of Mocha, got off to the worst possible start as Jared Cumberbatch scored in the 27th minute to hand Black Pearl the lead. This advantage was then doubled in the 41st minute via a Merson Benny conversion.

Riddim Squad eventually reduced the deficit in the form of Germain Harry, who scored in the 44th minute. The score remained unchanged entering the halftime interval. Arthur London then levelled proceedings as he converted in the 67th minute.

However, Black Pearl retook the lead in the form of Peter Smith, who made his presence felt in the 78th minute. Nonetheless, Riddim Squad would earn a share of the spoils as Dorville Stewart equalised in the 90th+3 minute.

Due to the draw, Riddim Squad move onto 15 points and remain in third place with two games remaining but will be unable to surpass Pele, who sits on 22 points with a game in hand. On the other hand, Black Pearl climbs into the fourth position on 14 points.

Meanwhile, the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) downed Order & Discipline 4-1.

It was the first win for GFC in the event as they move onto three points but remain in the cellar position. On the other hand, Order & Discipline FC remains in ninth place on four points.
