The first precast girder was earlier this morning launched for the new Demerara River Bridge, marking a new phase of the construction process, the Ministry of Public Works said today.
The precast girder is a horizontal beam that supports the deck of a bridge and the weight of traffic.
Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill was present to offer remarks and witness this historic event on the western end of the bridge.
