GuyExpo 2024 was last evening launched at the National Exhibition Centre at Sophia. It will run from November 14 to 17, under the theme “Guyana on Show, the Fastest Growing Economy.”

With an expected attendance of over 100,000 and participation from approximately 283 groups, the Expo is set to feature varied attractions, including an international pavilion and live entertainment.

As government officials, business leaders and the general public gathered for the inauguration,  the Expo was declared open by Komal Singh the Chairman of the Private Sector Commission.

Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Oneidge Walrond during her remarks spoke about the ongoing government initiatives to support local businesses, including the establishment of Business Incubator Centres and enhancements in industrial development which are aimed at nurturing small and medium enterprises. 

She also stressed the importance of investing in human capital, particularly through educational initiatives and agribusiness programmes aimed at youth.  She underscored the significance of international partnerships to foster trade and collaboration, with examples of bilateral engagements and participation from numerous countries at the Expo. 

The event will feature a kid’s zone, food court, and lots of entertainment. There will be a chutney night today while tomorrow local artistes will be on show. Steel Pan entertainment is billed for Sunday.

Additionally, the expo will see exhibitors from Barbados and Trinidad. 

Parking will be at a cost of $1000 per vehicle.
