The Ministry of Health, in partnership with Northwell Health, Vanderbilt University, and the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), yesterday concluded its intensive five-day Emergency Medicine Training Workshop with a formal certificate handing-over ceremony.
The workshop saw 27 doctors receiving certificates for their participation, a release from the Ministry of Health said.
During the closing ceremony, Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony expressed his excitement over the workshop’s success. He acknowledged the participants’ enthusiasm, highlighting the importance of continued professional development.
“What this workshop has done is open your appetite to what exists in emergency medicine. This is just the beginning, and we want to ensure you continue building on this foundation,” he said.
The workshop was widely recognised for its success by Dr Zulfikar Bux, National Emergency Medical Director, and the teams from Northwell Health and Vanderbilt University. The training provided hands-on learning in emergency response protocols, diagnostic techniques, and the use of specialised equipment.
As the workshop concluded, participants were encouraged to embrace a culture of lifelong learning and lead by example.
Also in attendance were Chief Medical Officer, Dr Narine Singh; Dr Eric Pena, Vice President of Global Health and other officials from collaborating agencies.
