Eighteen employees of the West Demerara Regional Hospital in Vreed-en-Hoop, Region Three are participating in a Joint Workplace Safety and Health Committee Training Programme at the health facility’s conference room.
Organized by the Ministry of Labour’s Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Department, this initiative aims to strengthen awareness of workplace safety and health, a release from the Ministry of Labour said.
The training focuses on critical safety topics, including the benefits offered by NIS and the legal obligation to report workplace accidents and occupational diseases to the NIS.
It is designed to equip Joint Workplace Safety and Health Committee members with the knowledge and skills required to fulfill their responsibilities under Chapter 99:06 of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Act.
