The ongoing badminton tournament at the Ring Sports Centre in Paramaribo, Suriname has seen mixed performances from Guyanese players.
Priyanna Ramdhani advanced to the quarterfinals in three categories: Women’s Singles, Mixed Doubles with Akili Haynes, and Women’s Doubles with Chequeda De Boulet from Trinidad. In the Women’s Singles, she claimed a commanding win over Trinidad’s Amara Urquhart (21-9, 21-14).
Akili Haynes showcased his skill in the Men’s Singles, defeating Al-Hassan Somedjo of Suriname (21-19, 21-15) to reach the Round of 16, where he was bested by Peru’s Adrian Viale.
