Gulf Warriors captured the Beterverwagting (BV) Inter-Block Football Championship, overcoming a determined Sideline unit on sudden death penalty kicks at the community centre ground.
Locked 2-2 at the end of regulation time, Gulf Warriors held their nerve prevail 14-13 in the tense sudden death penalty shoot-out. Sideline sealed their own fate as the experienced Jemar Harrigon failed to convert from the spot during the sudden death realm of the penalty shoot-out.
With the result, Gulf Warriors received $400,000 and the
championship trophy, while the Sideline unit collected $200,000 and the corresponding accolade for their efforts.
The winner of the tournament will receive $400,000, while the runner-up will walk away with $200,000.
Meanwhile, in the third place playoff, Ogle Street thrashed Front-side 4-1. Due to the outcome, Ogle Street walked away with $100,000 and the respective accolade, while Front-side pocketed $50,000 and a trophy.
