Guyana’s leading female badminton player, Priyanna Ramdhani, along with Trinidadian partner Chequeda DeBoulet, won a silver medal at the Suriname International in Paramaribo yesterday after falling to Peruvian pair Ines Castillo and Namie Miyahira in the final of the Women’s Doubles.

Earlier in the weekend, they had advanced to the Women’s Doubles finals in an impressive semi-final victory. The duo defeated Suriname’s Leefmans and Yang in straight sets, 21-8, 21-17, showcasing their dominance on the court.

However, Ramdhani faced challenges in her other events. In the Women’s Singles, she lost to Peru’s Castillo, 21-6, 21-9, in the semi-finals to walk away with a bronze medal. Meanwhile, in the Mixed Doubles, the pair of Ramdhani and Akili Haynes had to retire from their semifinal match due to the latter struggling with a recurring ankle injury sustained during practice. They also pocketed a bronze for their efforts.
