Lennox Gowen, known as `Nunkie’ of 572 Avocado Street, Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was arrested by Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) officers on Monday over the possession of 3.8 kgs of cocaine.
A press release from CANU said that Gowen was arrested and escorted to CANU Headquarters, along with the narcotic. The substance tested positive for cocaine, with a total weight of 3.8 kg (approximately 8.38 lbs.).
According to the CANU release, a narcotic operation was conducted on Monday at the Eno Backtrack Service in Spring-lands, Corentyne, Berbice, which led to the discovery of a whitish, powdery substance, suspected to be cocaine, concealed within false walls of a black suitcase.
Further investigations led to the arrest of a 44-year-old businessman.
Investigations are ongoing.
