Dear Editor,
On November 7th inst. I waited for about 3 hours at the Palms Compound along with about 10 other seniors. We had gathered there in order to collect our 2025 Pension Books. We had all either seen an ad in the Kaieteur News or in the Ministry’s Social Media Pages.
After we had waited for what seemed an eternity one of the gentlemen telephoned the Ministry only to be told that there would be no distribution that day. I later went down to the Ministry and was emphatically informed that the distribution schedules had not as yet been configured and no one seemed to know the genesis of the ads.
My problem with all this is that at the Palms some of the folks were dropped off by relatives and they were barely ambulant. I want to believe that Kaieteur News could not go to print without authority from the Ministry. The publisher of the newspaper is not so generous as to print several pages of notices without remuneration. I feel that there needs to be a proper investigation into this sordid affair.
Sincerely,
Cyril Walker
