Select XI, Georgetown victorious in Demerara U-15 50-Over Championship

Select XI and Georgetown recorded comfortable wins when the Demerara U-15 Intra-Association 50-Over Cricket Championship continued yesterday.

Staged at the Transport Sports Club ground in Thomas Lands, Select XI bested West Demerara by three wickets. Batting first, West Demerara were skittled for 95 in 32.2 overs. Jaaziah Singh top scored with 31 runs, which was highlighted by three boundaries. However, extras were the largest contributor to the score with 39.

Rusoe Anderson was the pick of the bowlers with 3-2, while Jasani Craig added 2-26. In response, Select XI ended on 95/7. Shahid Ramzan top scored in the win with 25 to marshal his side to victory following an initial flurry of wickets.

Over at the Farm Community Centre ground in East Bank Demerara, the Georgetown unit defeated East Bank by 426 runs.

Batting first, Georgetown recorded an imposing 472/5 in 50 overs. Cush Seegobin unleashed 195 to lead the batting assault. Adding 71, 53, 23, and 28 runs, respectively, were Makai Johnson, Lemar Seecharran, Ryaz Latiff, and Mikel Johnson, respectively.

In response, the East Bank unit was skittled for 46 in 10 overs. Arfraz Khan and Jacobus Proper combined for nine wickets during the rout.
