Waramuri crowned Region #1 Primary School Tapeball Cricket Champion

Waramuri defeated Sebai by five wickets to win the Region #1 (Barima Waini) Inter-Primary Schools T10 Tapeball Championship, which concluded at the Fitzburg Recreational Ground, Port Kaituma.

Batting first, Sebai recorded 100/8 during their allocation. Dwayne John led the way with 39 (5x6s, 1×4) while the duo of Ricardo Moses and Ryan Smyth added 12 runs apiece.

Denzel John was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-24, while Sunil Thornhill chipped in with 2-9.

In reply, Waramuri raced to 103/5 in 9.2 overs. Usain Fredericks top scored with 43 (3x4s, 4x6s), while Wade Ferreira chipped in with an unbeaten 18 (2x4s, 1×6). Javid Williams snared 2-9 with the ball.

With the win, Waramuri walked away with $300,000, bats, and medals, while the runner-up received $200,000, a pair of balls, and the corresponding trophy.

On the individual side, Fredericks was adjudicated the player of the tournament. He walked away with a bicycle and a bat. On the other hand, Derwin Williams and Denzel John copped the best wicketkeeper and highest wicket-taker awards, respectively.

In other results, Matthews’s Ridge defeated Falls Primary by 61 runs, while Sebai bested Baramita by 160 runs. Also, Canal Bank downed Arakaka by 81 runs.
