Cullen businessman acquitted on rape charge

A 12-member jury at the  High Court in Suddie on Wednesday found businessman Rohan Narine, also known as Prem Narine, not guilty of rape. 

Narine, 52, of Cullen Public Road, had been charged with sexually assaulting a female in January 2024. He initially appeared at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court, where he was granted bail of $300,000. 

The two-day trial, presided over by Justice Peter Hugh, concluded with the jury unanimously acquitting Narine. He was represented by attorney Bernard DaSilva.
