Indian PM in tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Promenade Gardens

Prime Minister Mark Phillips yesterday accompanied the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Narendra Modi to pay homage to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, located in the Promenade Gardens in Georgetown.

Subsequently, floral tributes were made at the Arya Samaj Monument, which was unveiled in 2011 to commemorate 100 years of the Arya Samaj movement in Guyana.

Minister of Health,  Dr Frank Anthony; Minister of Human Service and Social Protection,  Dr Vindhya Persaud and the Minister within the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development,  Anand Persaud were also at the venue.
