The 2024 European Union (EU) Delegation Human Rights Award was last evening bestowed on founder of the Youths with Purpose and veteran social worker Maureen Hope who has dedicated 21 years of her life to working to improving the lives and empower the disadvantaged in the Crane, West Coast Demerara area.
EU Ambassador René van Nes last night at the reception to honour Hope said that the EU recognizes that each country has unique challenges regarding human rights and by working closely with local civil society organisations, the EU can adopt tailored approaches that reflect the specific needs and contexts of different areas, thus enhancing the effectiveness of its human rights interventions.
