Police say 1,353 traffic infractions recorded in two days

Under increasing pressure over traffic deaths and the rampage of heavy-duty trucks, the Guyana Police Force today said that that 1,353 traffic cases have been made over a two-day period with tinted glass being the highest single offence.

 

Traffic ranks, led by the Traffic Chief Senior Superintendent Mahendra Singh have been conducting Enforcement Exercises β€œwithout bias” across the country, and this has yielded some positive results, a release from the police said.

 

As cases are made, drivers are being made aware of the do’s and don’ts, in an effort to curb lawless/errant use of the road. The following cases were made over a two-day period (November 21 and 22) by each area identified where traffic ranks are stationed:

Unlicensed driver: 32

 

Breach of conditions of prescribed fitness: 44

 

Driver carrying Pillion rider without safety helmet: 11

 

Driver fails to wear a safety helmet: 24
