Twenty small businesses were celebrated for their excellence across various sectors, while 12 entrepreneurs were awarded $1 million each under the Green Tech Fund Grant initiative at the annual Small Business Awards Ceremony, held on Friday evening at the Pegasus Hotel, Kingston, Georgetown. Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Oneidge Walrond, who delivered the keynote address, highlighted the critical contributions of small businesses to Guyana’s economy. Describing them as the “backbone of the nation,” she reaffirmed government’s commitment to fostering growth, innovation, and sustainability in the small business sector.

Reflecting on the success of GuyExpo 2024, which featured over 300 exhibitors, including clients of the Small Business Bureau (SBB), the Minister commended local entrepreneurs for their creativity, innovation, and improved standards. “The noticeable improvements in packaging, branding, and the sheer ingenuity on display, were a testament to the dedication of our small business owners.”
