Village Rams, Mavericks advance following commanding wins

Village Rams and Downtown Mavericks recorded commanding victories to seal their place in the next round when the Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) Harmony T10 Tapeball Championship continued yesterday.

The Village Rams defeated the Kuru-Kururu Panthers by 89 runs. Batting first, the Village Rams amassed an imposing 182/2 in their allocation.

Adams engineered this mammoth score with 101 (10x6s, 5x4s) from 40 delivers. He was supported by Omesh Danram, who smashed 52 (3x6s, 5x4s) from 23 deliveries. In response, the Panthers could only muster 93/5 in their allotment, with Brad Thomas top scoring with 48 (5x6s, 2x4s) from 20 deliveries.

In similar fashion, the Downtown Mavericks thrashed the GT Titans by eight wickets. Batting first, the GT Titans amassed 145/3 at the end of their innings. Deopersaud Lalta tallied a belligerent 72 (10x6s, 1×4) from 25 balls, while Feroze Rahaman added 40 (3x6s, 3x4s) from 20.

In reply, Imtyaz Ghani smashed 105 (13x6s, 3x4s) from 31 deliveries to secure the win for the Mavericks unit.

Meanwhile, the likes of The Guards, Eccles All-Stars, Pure Entertainment, Movements Family (Mahdia), and Renegades also progressed to the next round. The winner of the event will receive $500,000 and the championship trophy, while the runner-up will pocket $250,000 and the corresponding accolade. The losing semifinalists will receive $100,000 apiece. Individual awards such as the leading scorer, highest wicket-taker, and most valuable player of the final will also be awarded $60,000 apiece.
