Come next Saturday the Promenade Gardens will be transformed into a US destination offering attendees a taste of its iconic food, music, art, and sports while discovering lesser-known gems across the US.
Held under the banner ‘What Happens in Miami…’, the upcoming event is being touted as one that will provide an immersive American experience, celebrating the best of American culture in Guyana.
The event is being coordinated by the Global Tours and Travel Company in collaboration with the US Embassy and the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham).
According to a release from the travel company, representatives of United Airlines will be in attendance to showcase what the airline has to offer travellers from Guyana. A special feature of the festival will see a lucky attendee winning a free return trip to any destination within the United States in 2025 through a raffle draw.
The release also boasted about the event providing every attending Guyanese traveller with an exclusive look at top American destinations such as Houston, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Boston, Chicago, San Diego, Key West, Washington, DC, San Francisco and Maui. Expert vacation planners and destination specialists from United Airlines and Global Tours and Travel are expected to be on hand to advise on all travel related services from airline tickets, to hotel accommodations, to auto rentals, to tours and tour activities, ensuring travel ideas for everyone—from children to grandparents.
And of course there will be entertainment. Under the theme ‘Eats, Beats, and American Travel Treats’, patrons are expected to enjoy a vibrant lineup of live music with local and international performers. There will also be a special chillout area offering adult attendees the ultimate escape.
“Kick back with premium handmade cigars from the Dominican Republic, try your hand at throwing an American football, or take a baseball swing—all while enjoying a refreshing cocktail,” the release said.
Further, the release revealed that US companies, including leaders in their respective fields, such as Qualfon, will be participating, showing the strong commitment that many American businesses have to the Guyanese market.
Sales representatives from the official dealership in Guyana, Tradewind Automotive Inc will also be on hand to talk about the lineup of versatile, hardworking Ford trucks and vans on sale.
Attendees will be kept cool with a variety of classic American drinks, including popular American brands of beer, wine, coffee, energy drinks, juices, and cocktails.
“Whether you’re craving an icy cold Budweiser or Michelob or a Cabernet Sauvignon, a Margarita or a Martini, there will be something for everyone,” the organisers promised.
Then there will be the food. The event promises to bring together a culinary feast of American favourites and regional specialties, offering something for every taste. Attendees can indulge in iconic classics like hamburgers, Cuban sandwiches, BBQ ribs, and apple pie, along with options for vegetarians and vegans.
Children under 12 will be admitted free and will have a specially designated area for the bouncy castle, a number of other games, and face painting.
The event coincides with Thanksgiving weekend, a cherished American holiday for giving thanks.
