Lamaha Park businessman held with gun outside bar

A 38-year-old Lamaha Park businessman was yesterday arrested by the police with a .38 revolver, which contained a matching spent shell.

According to a release from the police, early yesterday morning, ranks acting on information received, proceeded to Middleton Street, Campbellville in the vicinity of a popular sports bar/nightclub.

There, they found Jason Carmichael and a group of men outside the bar. The release said Carmichael was approached and found to be in possession of the firearm, the serial number of which had been filed off. When questioned, the release said, Carmichael told police: ‘I got the firearm from another rastaman’.

He was told of the offence committed, cautioned and arrested. He was escorted to Kitty Police Station with the firearm and spent shell, the release added. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.
