Guyana’s National Senior Men’s Rugby team, the Green Machine, ended their Rugby Americas North (RAN) SVNS Challenge campaign with a 14-38 defeat at the hands of Jamaica in the quarterfinal stage of the tournament yesterday in Arima in Trinidad and Tobago.
While the Guyanese were competitive in the first half and even scored first to start proceedings, the Jamaicans turned the pressure on as the game wore on to dominate the fixture. After heading into the halftime break with a commanding 21-14 lead, the Jamaicans shut out the Guyanese in the second half while adding 17 more to their total to end the game at 38-14.
