YMCA was crowned the New Era/ExxonMobil Futsal Championship, overcoming Hard-Knocks by a 6-4 score-line in the final on Saturday evening at the Retrieve Tarmac, Linden.
Jamal Bentick registered a hat-trick while Nicholas Gentle chipped in with a brace. Adding a goal was Jonah Simon. For the loser, the quartet of Omar Brewley, Clive Nobrega, Omar Williams, and Kendolph Lewis netted one goal apiece.
Due to the outcome, YMCA walked away with the championship trophy and $1,000,000, while the loser received $500,000 and the second-place accolade.
In the third-place encounter, Money Bell bested the Spaniards 10-8. Stephon Jupiter led the victor with a helmet-trick, while Amoniki Buntin bagged a double. Adding one goal apiece were Shane Luckie, Nathaniel Isaacs, and Allan Halley.
On the other side, Tyrese Lewis tallied a hat-trick while Shaka Lewis amassed a double. Supporting with one goal apiece were Seon Taylor and Malachi Todd, while an own goal added to the score.
With the results, Money Bell walked away with $200,000 and the third-place award, while Spaniards pocketed $100,000 and the respective trophy.
